So if your real estate agent does not know that you are short of money let him know and he will arrange to put the closing date at the end of the month. It is important to maintain a good FICO, specially if you are waiting in escrow for closing. The lender had approved your loan with a certain rate because you had for a example a 725 FICO score. If you purchase new furniture and finance it, even if your FICO decreased by 10 for that purchase, you will have 715 FICO and you are not eligible for that Home Mortgage which requires a FICO score of minimum 720. Most lenders before they send the money into the escrow a day before the closing will run your credit once more, to check.
You should arrange for moving at least three weeks before closing, because sometimes moving companies are busy and cannot accommodate you right away. Also do not forget to visit the post office for redirecting your mail at lease one week before closing. Do not forget to contact your escrow company to see if you need to deposit more money into the escrow, in case your agent is too busy to notify you.
